What is it about?

Good Robot is an arcade shooter that keeps player in his toes. Robots flies around the labyrinth and other robots respond with hotile fire. There’s lots of nice looking twinkle beams and light balls flying around causing fun destruction. Game money is gathered with destruction of enemies and virus infected factories. Players task is to update his robot better and get new hats. Hats actually absrob
one hit so they are kind of extra health boost.

Is it for gamers?

‘Roguelike’ game is proceduraly generated. In practice, this means that content of the levels and enemies are randomyl genrated. There’s however control for the advance of the story - player can choose from diffrent doors which to enter. Icons hint about content, so if the player doesn’t want to go to boss fight he can select the money rich level instead. There’s constant juggling with updates and new lives so the Good Robot is indeed careful man’s action game.

Ethical message?

Well, hats are cool right?

Interesting features?

I liked the Good Robots playablity and enjoyed immensly about it. XBox-controller led to smooth destruction of foes and robot kept well in hand. However the procedural genreration means that player gets his ass handed to him at times or then he gets the good weapon right from start. Of course this just adds the re-playablity and invites player to enjoy the action more than once. There’s lots of weapons, enemies and hats for player to choose from so there’s lots of effort to keep player entertained. I liked many of smaller details and occasional humor.

Scary or Distressing elements

Not really. The game is arcade-action from top to bottom.

Downloadable content?

Nope. Just go buy it from the Steam.

Age Rating?

The game doesn’t have age rating (not even developer suggest) and game characters are not ‘humanlike’ so PEGI-rating might come somewhere around 7.

Players can talk about?

  • Did game generate some discussion?
  • Is there topics that could be discussed with minors or youth?
  • Is there a story driven choices that might genrate feelings or discussion?
  • What kind of topics might be brought up with parents or either with youth?
